On the occasion of the inauguration of the Dolnośląska Zima 2026 series, the Samorząd Województwa Dolnośląskiego invites everyone to Szklarska Poręba – DCS Polana Jakuszycka.

On 17–18 January 2026, the first in a series of weekend events promoting the region’s winter attractions will take place. Numerous attractions and a Lower Silesian town full of surprises will await visitors at the Dolnośląskie Centrum Sportu – Polana Jakuszycka, guaranteeing unforgettable winter experiences.

Arts and crafts workshops

Lower Silesia is focusing on interactive ways of learning about local traditions. Visitors can take part in glass painting, crystal-glass engraving and creating artworks inspired by minerals from the Karkonosze Mountains, such as amethyst and quartz. Modelling workshops for children are also organised, while aviation enthusiasts can paint miniature 3D aircraft or create bas-reliefs from papier-mâché.

Sport and outdoor recreation

The region’s promotion includes running lessons for children, tandem cross-country skiing and movement games organised, among others, by Bieg Piastów. Tourists can also enjoy laser shooting ranges, outdoor games, orienteering education and presentations of hiking, cycling and horse-riding routes.

Education and scientific experiments

The attractions of Lower Silesia are promoted through fascinating demonstrations, such as the Mad Scientist Show featuring liquid nitrogen and explosive reactions. History and science enthusiasts can also examine the properties of uranium glass under UV light and measure radiation with a Geiger counter in former mines. “Little stone workshops” engaging all the participants’ senses are organised as well.

Local product tastings

An important part of the promotion is the presentation of Lower Silesian flavours. Visitors can sample regional products such as honey, cheese, pickles, artisan coffee, cold-pressed juices, and traditional baked goods and preserves.

Interactive games and knowledge competitions

The region is also promoted through entertainment—from quizzes with a wheel of fortune and memory games to Knowledge Competitions on the Samorząd Województwa and “small-town games” with prizes that introduce visitors to interesting facts about Lower Silesia.

Additional promotional elements include photo-booth souvenirs, allowing tourists to capture their winter adventures.
