Co powoduje, że dzieci same decydują się sprzedawać za pieniądze?
The creator of “Hi, Tereska” has made a film about “pigs.” In youth slang, this means children and teenagers of either sex who provide sexual services to adults. At Forum Cinema, the film will be screened from Sunday, 12 June, through Wednesday, 15 June.
Robert Gliński explains in interviews that his film deals with a phenomenon that has been growing in Poland since the country joined the European Union, particularly in towns and small communities along the Polish-German border. The clients are mainly Germans, who pay for the services in euros. In large cities, the usual meeting places are huge shopping centres. The children use the money they earn this way to buy designer clothes, shoes, cosmetics and mobile phones.
Filip Garbacz, who plays the leading role in the film, won the Golden Lions for best acting debut, the main award at the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdańsk. He is a non-professional actor. In “Pigs,” he plays sixteen-year-old Tomek, who lives with his parents and sister in a block of flats right next to the border. One day, he discovers the secret of his schoolmate Ciemny, who sells himself to German paedophiles. Tomek’s girlfriend is Marta. To fulfil her various dreams and whims, Tomek tries to earn some money. It quickly turns out that in this border town, the only way to make a reliable income is to do the same thing as Ciemny.
