Bolesławiec Days will begin on Thursday, 16 June. The first day will be held under the title “Blues Thursday”. Seven bands will perform at the “Blues Night In Bolesławiec” concert – “Chłopaki z Ferajny”, “20 mil od miasta”, “Knowbody Knowi”, “Mercedes Band”, “B.Combo”, “Sun Makers” and “Elch Band”. The event was initiated by the “Blues Night in Bolesławiec” Initiative Group, comprising Maciej Tylenda, Dariusz Uściński and Jan Dudek.
Reggae on Friday
On Friday, amateur artistic groups that dance and sing regularly at BOK-MCC will perform. Special artistic activities for children and young people entitled “Artistic Bolesławiec” are also planned. The evening will end with a concert by Maleo Reggae Rockers, known for performing at “Przystanek Woodstock”.
Saturday’s South Slavic Culture Festival
Local community groups will perform that day, and a culinary competition for a good pita will be held. There will be tastings of Balkan dishes, as well as demonstrations of baking pita and preparing pećenica.
The film “Gucza! Pojedynek na trąbki” will be screened at Forum Cinema, starring Marko Marković. The film was shot during an authentic festival. Julijana, the daughter of the renowned Serbian trumpeter Satchmo Trandafilovic, falls in love with Romeo, who plays in the rival band, the Roma Sandokan’s Tigers.
The festival’s headline act will be Boban i Marko Marković Orchestra – for 20 years, the best brass orchestra in Serbia. It is known for appearing in Emir Kusturica’s films “Underground” and “Arizona Dream”.
Rock Sunday
The final day of shared festivities will have a rock theme. The stage will host a Modern Dance Tournament in the Street Dance, Freestyle and Break Dance categories, as well as a theatre performance. Especially for children, the Giant Magician will blow soap bubbles, while the Happy Witch will paint the youngest children’s faces. Canon and Canonki will perform on stage.
In addition to activities at Piłsudski Square, the organisers invite visitors to the Taekwondo Cefta Open 2011 Olympic Hopes Tournament, held under the patronage of the Polish Olympic Committee, and to Ryszard Tomczyk’s “40 Years Since the Gold” jubilee.
