The District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec is conducting an investigation against a 32-year-old resident of Bolesławiec County. The suspect is accused of driving without a licence while under the influence of a psychotropic substance, as well as causing a road accident at a pedestrian crossing in which a pedestrian suffered injuries resulting in serious bodily harm—in the form of an illness that genuinely endangered his life.

– The investigation findings indicate that on 30 December 2025, the perpetrator, being under the influence of a psychotropic substance in the form of methamphetamine and contrary to the legally binding decision of the Bolesławiec Starost to revoke his category B driving licence, was driving an Audi A4 passenger car – reports Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.

She adds: – At the intersection of Jeleniogórska, Zwycięstwa and Leśna streets in Bolesławiec, the suspect failed to observe the road ahead adequately, as a result of which he struck a 55-year-old man who was correctly crossing the road at the designated place.

As a result of the incident, the victim suffered extensive head injuries.

The suspect did not admit to committing the alleged offences. He had previously been convicted in court for property damage.

At the request of the District Prosecutor in Bolesławiec, the court ordered three months’ pre-trial detention for the 32-year-old.
