Municipal Lower Secondary School No. 3 in Bolesławiec is taking part in the nationwide Geo-consultations project, organised by the UNEP/GRID-Warsaw Environmental Information Centre. The aim of the project is to hold public consultations on a dream investment. The school’s students have their own idea for developing the site of the former Eastern Railway Station. The first option envisages building a go-kart track; the second involves creating an open-air museum devoted to ceramics and constructing an amphitheatre. Meanwhile, an amusement park could be built on Tysiąclecia Avenue. “Both investments would be connected by a bicycle path ending at Grodziec Castle,” says Łukasz Burdyna, a student at GS No. 3 and a project participant.
To encourage local-government officials to carry out the project, the young people conducted an information campaign: they handed out leaflets, put up posters and met with the city architect. Public consultations on the matter will be held on Wednesday, 8 June, at GS No. 3 (Słowackiego Street). They will begin at 4:00 p.m.. “We hope that the residents of our city will also express their views on this investment,” stresses Dorota Basiak, a teacher and project supervisor.
