The first edition of the German Language Festival took place on Wednesday, June 1, at the Construction School Complex in Bolesławiec. On that day, everyone gathered in the ZSB auditorium had the opportunity to see and hear poems by outstanding German poets, as well as amusing scenes from everyday life performed by young people from four Bolesławiec secondary schools. Everything was in Goethe’s language.
Songs could not be missing, either. The audience heard such pieces as “Keine Grenzen” from Ich Troje’s repertoire, “Nasza klasa” by Jacek Kaczmarski, “Takie ładne oczy” by Czerwone Gitary, and “Jesteś szalona” by the band Boys.
The presentations were assessed by a jury consisting of: Alicja Krzyszczak, head of the Education, Culture, Physical Culture and Sport Department of the Bolesławiec County Office, Małgorzata Pędlowska and Wojciech Markiewicz (German teachers from I LO), as well as Jacek Jurkiewicz, director of ZSB.
The team from the School Complex of Trade and Services won the award for aesthetic impressions. The award for the most attractive costumes and creativity went to the Festival hosts, while the team from the Mechanical School Complex received the award for the most interesting idea and humor. The students of the General and Vocational School Complex were awarded for the best arrangement and performance of a song.
The initiators and organizers of the event were teachers from the Construction School Complex: Anna Prostak and Aneta Polak. “We wanted the students to focus not on grammar or vocabulary, but on conversation,” Aneta Polak explains. “The event is intended to educate and entertain at the same time. It was not supposed to be another typical German lesson. Everything turned out very well,” she adds with a smile.
The next edition of the Festival will take place next year. This time, however, the event will be hosted by another Bolesławiec secondary school.
