Earlier, we received an inquiry about this matter in the editorial office inbox. The question concerned the distance between the barriers on the bicycle path.
The editorial office received the following information, along with photographs:
At the intersection of the Kruszyn–Łaziska roads, faulty speed-reducing barriers were installed on both sides of the bicycle path from Bolesławiec, at too small a distance from each other—approximately 1.5 metres. This makes it exceptionally difficult to pass by bicycle or scooter.
As a result, most cyclists choose an alternative solution and incorrectly go around the barriers on their outer sides. In Warta Bolesławiecka, near the municipality, the same barriers are approximately 3 metres apart.
The issue concerns the barriers at the intersection of the bicycle path and Leszczynowa Street in Kruszyn. The barriers were probably installed for safety reasons. However, the question arises as to whether they were positioned in accordance with the applicable regulations and whether the distance between them is too small.
Since the location is within the Municipality of Bolesławiec, we sent an inquiry about the matter to the municipal office.
On Monday, December 1, we received a response from the Municipality of Bolesławiec. We publish it below:
In response to the report concerning the installation of speed-reducing barriers on the bicycle path near the intersection of the Kruszyn–Łaziska roads, we kindly inform you that the safety devices in question were installed by the Bolesławiec District Roads Authority.
We were not the investor responsible for the works related to installing the indicated barriers and therefore do not have the authority to modify them.
At the same time, we asked the Bolesławiec District Roads Authority about the situation and received the following response:
The barriers installed at the crossing over the district road in Kruszyn were installed by the district road manager, namely the Bolesławiec District Roads Authority.
The barriers are intended to slow down bicycles and scooters travelling along the bicycle path and prevent situations in which they would force vehicles to yield.
We remind you that the bicycle path is not continuous at this location, and vehicles travelling along the district road have the right of way.
The spacing of the barriers is not specified in the technical conditions; therefore, it cannot be said that the barriers are incorrectly spaced (...).
At the end of the correspondence, the Municipality of Bolesławiec asks that all inquiries concerning this matter be directed to the Bolesławiec District Roads Authority.
