The November session of the Bolesławiec City Council is underway. During it, the mayor of Bolesławiec mentioned that the man who attacked him at Forum cinema was sentenced by the court, among other things, to community service. The perpetrator was also banned from approaching and contacting the mayor of Bolesławiec. (Both bans are for two years.) Moreover, the court ordered the convicted man to refrain from abusing alcohol.

The president stated that this case “restores faith in the courts”. He addressed the councillors, who are also attacked—among other places, online—and encouraged them to use lawyers and take such matters to court, even if it were to take a long time.

The incident mentioned took place in March last year. This is how we described the case at the time:

The incident took place on Friday at an event at Forum cinema in Bolesławiec. Employees of the cultural centre noticed a man threatening the president. In the cinema lobby, he shouted, “I’ll f***ing kill that wh*** Roman.”

The police were called. The man’s identity was checked. He allegedly told the officers that they could do nothing to him because he was an anarchist.

The situation was serious because there were many people in the auditorium, and, according to BOK MCC employees, the man was under the influence of alcohol.

The president had previously filed a complaint against the man, but the prosecutor’s office discontinued the case.
