The Military Police in Żagań, under the supervision of the Military Affairs Division of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań, is conducting preparatory proceedings to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death of a 22-year-old soldier on 8 November 2025.
The soldier from the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec set himself on fire on 4 November near his place of residence in Złotoryja County. A passing driver noticed the burning man and began extinguishing him with a jacket. The soldier suffered burns covering more than 80 percent of his body. He could not be saved and died in hospital.
The istotne.pl editorial team began receiving information about the behavior of the deceased soldier’s superiors and colleagues toward him. We asked the Regiment’s spokesperson about this. In response, he informed us only about the ongoing investigation.
