One of the items on the agenda of the November session of the Bolesławiec City Council was a vote on a draft resolution amending the resolution on appointing the Museum Council operating at the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec. The justification for the document states, among other things:

The number of Council members, pursuant to § 12(1) of the Statutes of the Museum of Ceramics, is six. Following the death of Museum Council member Mr Stanisław Firszt, a vacancy arose in the Museum’s advisory and consultative body (...)

The authorized entity, namely the Polish Museologists’ Association, Lower Silesian Branch, put forward the candidacy of Dr. habil. Katarzyna Majbroda, professor at the University of Wrocław, for membership of the Museum Council in order to complete its membership.

Professor Katarzyna Majbroda comes from Bolesławiec. Here is her profile:

Dr. habil. Katarzyna Majbroda, professor at the University of Wrocław, lectures at the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the University of Wrocław. She also serves as the Dean’s Representative at the Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences of the University of Wrocław for sustainable development and relations with the social environment.

Since 2015, she has served as vice president of the Main Board of the Polish Ethnological Society. Since 2021, she has coordinated the Young Anthropology programme, which she initiated, run by the Polish Ethnological Society, the Committee of Ethnological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish Institute of Anthropology and the Ethnographic Commission of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Its aim is to support the education and research of young academics.

In 2022, as a representative of Central and Eastern Europe, she was a member of the Committee on Regulatory Instruments of the Steering Committee of the NGO Forum for Intangible Cultural Heritage. In 2024, she was elected to the Committee on Polish Culture Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the 2024–2027 term, as part of which she is involved in promoting culture and supporting scholarly initiatives.

In her research and teaching, she develops cooperation with non-governmental organizations and cultural institutions in Poland and abroad.

The councillors were unanimous—21 voted in favor.
