The World Orienteering Championships, organized by the International School Sport Federation (ISF), are currently taking place in Italy. Bartek Szeliga from Raciborowice, a student of the Jana Pawła II Lower Secondary School in Iwiny, won the silver medal. He missed out on gold by just four seconds.
The girls from Iwiny also performed very well (the team consisted of: Angelika Haniszewska, Dominika Burdyna, Dominika Kanikowska and Paulina Rygiel), finishing fifth in the team classification.
The Iwiny team is completed by Marcin Wieczorek and Mariusz Wojnowicz.
