On November 6, officers from the Traffic Division of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski, while patrolling one of the city’s streets, noticed a Volkswagen passenger car. The officers decided to stop the vehicle for a roadside check. Despite clearly issued visual and audible signals, the driver did not respond. To make matters worse, he accelerated and attempted to flee.

The officers immediately began pursuit. After several minutes of dynamic action, several streets away, the vehicle was successfully stopped, and the driver, a 49-year-old resident of Lwówek County, was taken into police custody.

It quickly became clear that the reason for his flight was an active court ban on driving motor vehicles. The man was fully aware of the consequences of his behavior, but despite this, he decided to ignore the officers’ instructions.

For failing to stop for a roadside check and violating the court-imposed driving ban, the 49-year-old faces up to 5 years in prison.

Police remind the public that anyone who fails to stop for a roadside check commits a serious crime carrying severe criminal liability.
