Windows 10 users in Europe, including Poland, can breathe a sigh of relief. Microsoft will provide free support and updates for this popular operating system for another year, until October 13, 2026. Free support was originally scheduled to end on October 14, 2025, but following pressure from consumer organizations in Europe, Microsoft extended this period.

How to get free Windows 10 support for another year?

To take advantage of the free support extension (until October 13, 2026) under the “Extended Security Updates” (ESU) program, registration and fulfillment of certain conditions are required:

  • The computer must have Windows 10 version 22H2 installed: Home, Professional, Pro Education or Workstation,
  • The system must have the latest available update,
  • The user logging into the system must use an administrator account,
  • You must have a Microsoft account.

If all the above requirements are met, the option to register for the ESU program will become available in the system update menu.

To find it, go to: Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update

Once the above conditions are met, a message will appear stating that registration is possible. You should then click the link: Register now.

The support extension gives users additional time to prepare for a future operating system change, while ensuring the security—including protection against hacker attacks and malicious software—and stability of their devices over the coming year.
