We were informed about the matter by a Reader. In an email to the editorial office, she wrote: “This year’s spring in Mierzwin began with clearing branches and bushes that posed a danger. Naturally, a permit for the cutting was obtained from Gmina Wiejska Bolesławiec.” She added that shortly afterwards it turned out that “not only branches had been cut down, but also several-decades-old oak trees.”

As we managed to establish, Bolesławiec Municipal Office notified the police about this at the end of April. Bolesławiec officers launched an investigation into the appropriation of trees: oaks, birches and aspens. The losses were estimated at nearly PLN 3,000. The person responsible for the cutting could face up to three years in prison. We will return to the subject.
