At the prosecutor’s request, the court remanded a 37-year-old resident of Lubań in temporary custody for three months. – The man is suspected of domestic violence against his 70-year-old mother and making criminal threats against her – reports Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, press spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.
What did the investigators establish?
From 1 January 2023 to 17 October 2025, the perpetrator physically and psychologically abused his mother, who was incapacitated due to her advanced age and lived with him. He started arguments during which he used words commonly considered insulting toward her, threatened to kill her, drove her out of the house, pulled at her clothes and hit her all over her body.
On 17 October 2025, the 37-year-old, while under the influence of alcohol, started another domestic argument during which he verbally abused his mother. He hit her on the head with his hands and kicked her all over her body. He then threw her out of the house. The spokesperson said: – As a result of the beating, the victim sustained injuries in the form of bruising around her face and eye sockets, as well as abrasions to the skin on her back and torso.
The perpetrator was detained by officers of the District Police Headquarters in Lubań.
After being brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lubań, he was charged with abusing his mother and making criminal threats against her. He faces a sentence of between six months and eight years in prison.
The man admitted to committing the alleged acts. He gave an explanation. Prosecutor Węglarowicz-Makowska said: – He stated that alcohol was the cause of his aggressive behaviour.
