Yesterday, officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters received reports from city residents about disturbing calls from withheld numbers. Officers: – The perpetrators impersonated postal workers and police officers.
How do the criminals operate?
One of the situations unfolded as follows: a woman caller claimed to be a postal worker and reported an error in the delivery address and the need to carry out verification. During an attempt to confirm the senior’s address, a man claiming to be a police officer joined the conversation and said that he was investigating a gang of fraudsters. The senior then heard the voice of the supposed postal worker again, who asked questions about savings.
Fortunately, a Bolesławiec resident realized that the conversation was suspicious and did not get defrauded. He informed a family member about the incident, who passed the information on to 112.
The police remind you:
- Police officers never inform people about an ongoing operation and never ask them to hand over money.
- Postal workers do not verify personal data by telephone.
- If you have any doubts, end the conversation and contact your family or call the emergency number 112.
- It is also worth informing older people in your family and neighborhood about the threat.
- Caution and a quick reaction can protect you from losing your life savings.
