For several days, candles have been lit in the windows of some homes. In churches, people are gathering for shared prayer and reflection.

In places where images of John Paul II are displayed, votive candles are burning and flowers are being laid. Black ribbons are flying alongside national flags on public offices and other institutions.

Until Thursday, people can sign the condolence book at the city hall.
