In September this year, proceedings conducted by officers of the Investigation Department of the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters were completed. They concerned a fraud committed using the “police officer” method, as a result of which the victim lost property of considerable value. – The intensive efforts of Bolesławiec police officers, including the analysis of surveillance footage and telecommunications data, detailed operational findings and witness interviews, led to the identification and arrest of the perpetrator – reports asp. szt. Monika Kaleta from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
The evidence collected made it possible to reconstruct the actions of the 29-year-old suspect, who came to Bolesławiec in January 2025 with a plan prepared in advance.
Investigators established that:
The people with whom the 29-year-old was cooperating contacted the victim by phone, impersonating a police officer, a prosecutor and the victim’s daughter. They informed her about an alleged road accident and the urgent need to provide cash for bail. By manipulating the victim, the criminals induced her to dispose of her property to her detriment, as a result of which the woman handed the 29-year-old 130,000 euros, equivalent to nearly 550,000 zlotys.
With the cooperation of the Police in Radom, the 29-year-old was arrested. He had been hiding for the previous few months, aware that he was wanted by law enforcement authorities. The Headquarters said: – The activities were conducted under the supervision of the Bolesławiec District Prosecutor’s Office, and the local court issued an order for the fraudster’s temporary detention.
The case was concluded with an indictment and referred to the Regional Court in Jelenia Góra.
The 29-year-old resident of Radom now faces up to 10 years in prison.
