He had not only exceeded the speed limit by 80 km/h but had also ignored a solid no-overtaking road marking. – For the traffic offenses, the officers imposed a PLN 2,700 fine and 16 penalty points on the 51-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County – explains Superintendent Agnieszka Goguł, press officer for the County Police Commander in Zgorzelec.

Initially, the man did not want to accept the fine and tried to offer the officers a financial benefit in exchange for discontinuing their official duties. The spokeswoman said: – Despite the police officers’ warnings, the man placed PLN 950 on the armrest.

The result? The officers immediately reacted to the crime and arrested the driver.

The 51-year-old now faces up to 10 years in prison for attempting to offer a financial benefit. In addition, the police secured the money against future penalties and fines.

The officers:

We remind you that excessive speed is one of the main causes of the most tragic road accidents. Every violation of the regulations, including exceeding the speed limit by several dozen kilometers per hour, poses a huge threat to the life and health not only of the driver but also of other road users.

At the same time, attempts to offer financial benefits to police officers are a crime that always results in criminal liability.
