Priest Andrzej Jarosiewicz has been removed from office at his current parish in Węgliniec. He will still hold the position of parish priest, but will not exercise his ministry in connection with proceedings concerning suspected irregularities at his previous parish in Bolesławiec. For now, Jarosiewicz will be transferred elsewhere.
Unofficially, we know that Rev. Jarosiewicz is to be sent to a senior citizens’ home in Legnica, but he does not want to agree to this. The rumours that have reached us also say that the priest’s defeat in court against istotne.pl journalists was significant, among other things.
We also know that rebellious parishioners in Węgliniec, who from the outset did not want to agree to Priest Jarosiewicz running their parish, had also continuously appealed to Church authorities for his removal.
“Proceedings are under way before an ecclesiastical court concerning possible irregularities in the management of the previous parish. Priest Jarosiewicz remains the parish priest, but has been removed to a place where he will wait for the proceedings to conclude. The bishop decided that, until the proceedings end, ministry in Węgliniec will be carried out by the dean of the Nowogrodziec deanery,” said the bishop’s spokesman, Rev. Waldemar Wesołowski.
Let us recall that we reported that so-called “perpetual Masses” had been celebrated in the basilica for years—a practice not grounded in canon law and lacking any official documentation. Priest Andrzej Jarosiewicz left neither a book of intentions for perpetual Masses nor a fund to handle offerings made for this Mass.
