Criminal investigators, as a result of operational work, detained a 36-year-old man in Zgorzelec County suspected of robbery theft, which took place last week in one of the Biedronka chain’s stores in Lubań. – A man entered the store and began putting, among other things, cleaning products and alcohol worth more than one thousand zlotys in a shopping basket – reports podkom. Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń, press officer of the Lubań KPP.

She adds: – Planning to steal the goods, he went to the store’s entrance doors, where he left the loot. He then passed through the checkout area and tried to take the basket with the goods out of the store. When a security guard intervened, the man used physical violence against him and then fled.

Based on the evidence secured and their own operational work, the criminal investigators identified a suspect. The 36-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County was detained at his place of residence.

During a search of the living quarters, police secured the sweatshirt the suspect had been wearing when he committed the robbery theft.

Based on the evidence collected by the police, the prosecutor charged the man with robbery theft and causing bodily harm to the security guard who intervened.

The suspect confessed to the charges. He was placed under police supervision and banned from approaching or contacting the injured party. Moreover, he was also banned from leaving the country and from entering the food-discount store chain belonging to the company mentioned above.

The 36-year-old now faces up to ten years in prison.
