A dangerous incident occurred in the city. – Services received information about a fire that broke out on Armii Krajowej Street in Lubin. Both firefighters and police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene – reports Senior Constable Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – Fortunately, no one was injured, but considerable property damage occurred.
Trash bins were destroyed; according to preliminary findings, the entire fire started there. The flames damaged not only the bins, but also the commercial building and restaurant next to which they stood. The preliminary estimated value of the losses caused by the incident was PLN 35,000.
It quickly became clear that arson was the probable cause of the fire. Spokeswoman: – Officers from the Lubin police station began their work. During their activities at the scene, police received another report stating that a man was on Śląska Street and, according to witnesses, was behaving strangely.
He was allegedly starting fires near the bins. Community police officers immediately went to the address provided. At the scene, the officers found a Lubin resident already known to them.

The 25-year-old told the officers that he had been looking for cardboard in the bin and had not intended to set anything on fire. However, the officers did not believe the man and checked the city surveillance footage, which confirmed their suspicions that he was responsible for the earlier arson.
The 25-year-old was arrested and taken to the police unit; after the proceedings were completed, he went straight to a police cell.
The Lubin resident admitted to the alleged offences, but was unable to logically explain his actions. He committed the offences while reoffending, that is, under conditions of so-called recidivism. Investigators do not rule out additional charges in other cases being handled against the 25-year-old.
