A grant of nearly PLN 8 million will be allocated to implementing twelve investment tasks with a total gross value of PLN 14.7 million. These tasks will increase the security of water supply systems and improve the efficiency of water supply infrastructure management in the city of Bolesławiec, Bolesławiec Municipality, and the Municipality and City of Lwówek Śląski.
The PLN 7.7 million grant made it possible to co-finance the tasks at 69% of eligible costs.
“We have ample reason to be satisfied, because in this call, under measure ‘FENX.02.05 Water for human consumption’, less than PLN 700 million was available, while a total of 180 projects worth four times as much—over PLN 2.6 billion—were assessed. We faced very strong competition. Ultimately, grants were awarded to only 33 of the 180 projects. Our project ranked 16th on the ranking list, which shows that it was very well prepared and justified. For example, funding was not awarded to projects by companies as large as the water utilities in Warsaw, Katowice and Gdańsk, or closer to us, Legnica and Lubin,” said president Grzegorz Kozłowski.
Investment tasks in the PWiK Dolina Bobru project
- Expansion and modernisation of the second-largest Water Treatment Plant at Modłowa Street in Bolesławiec
- Reconstruction and expansion of the trunk water mains between the Rakowice and Modłowa Water Treatment Plants to increase the security of water supply in the city—particularly in the left-bank area and in the localities of Dobra and Bolesławice
- Expansion of two photovoltaic installations in Bolesławiec with a combined capacity of more than 400 kWp
- Purchase and implementation of a state-of-the-art leak detection system which, permanently installed on the network, will not only report a leak but also indicate its location
- Replacement of water supply networks in Bolesławiec, Kruszyn and Lwówek Śląski
- Environmental education activities for service users—our annual educational campaign aimed at third-grade pupils, entitled “Water—the source of life, or PWiK’s lessons on water, wastewater and green energy”
Completion of these tasks is scheduled for the end of the first quarter of 2027.
“It is also worth mentioning that we were recently awarded a grant from another programme: the European Funds for Lower Silesia FEDS 2021–2027. The project was dedicated to renewable energy innovations. In our case, it involves three tasks with a net value of PLN 2.7 million; the grant covers 70% of the investment value, or PLN 1.9 million, while our own contribution is PLN 800,000,” informs president Grzegorz Kozłowski. “The project concerns expanding the cogeneration installation producing energy from biogas at the wastewater treatment plant in Bolesławiec and replacing outdated gas and oil boilers with modern heat pumps at our facilities in Lwówek Śląski. At the Lwówek Water Treatment Plant, an outdated gas boiler will be replaced with a heat pump using heat from the extracted mains water. At the wastewater treatment plant, in turn, we are replacing an oil boiler with a heat pump using heat from treated wastewater,” the president adds.
