As TVN24 established, behind the wheel of the camper van was Dariusz Kliś, a judge at the District Court in Lubań. Onet.pl:

A breathalyzer test showed that the man had two per mille of alcohol in his blood. The exact circumstances of the incident are being established.

Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek has already made a decision regarding the judge. As TVN24 was informed by judge Małgorzata Lamparska, press spokesperson for the Court of Appeal in Wrocław, the head of the Justice Ministry decided on “the judge’s suspension from official duties for a period of one month.” However, this is merely a formality, as the judge has not been ruling for a long time anyway due to a medical assessment.

We will return to this topic.

Let us recall. The incident took place on the evening of August 18. The camper van drove into a fence and then drove through several streets, including past a playground. “My daughter said that the camper van was driving in a zigzag,” one of the residents reported to eluban.pl.

The police were called to the scene. A breathalyzer test was reportedly intended to confirm the presence of alcohol in the driver’s breath. The driver was taken to hospital, where blood was drawn for further tests.

Residents are convinced that the perpetrator was a judge who, after everything happened, calmly went for a walk with his dog, saying: “No one will do anything to me.”

The District Prosecutor’s Office in Lubań confirmed that an investigation had been launched. As eluban.pl reports, the man has not been charged because he is protected by judicial immunity. Only after it is lifted can the case proceed as it would against any other citizen.

Several injured parties announce that they will not let the matter go and will demand justice.
