Last year, we reported that rats had appeared again near the municipal pond. As we emphasized at the time, municipal services regularly commission pest-control operations.
However, it seems that getting rid of these animals is not so easy. We have received information that rodents were seen today in the center of Bolesławiec. We appeal for action; the city mayor should commission some measures.
Risks associated with the presence of rats in the city
Rats pose a real threat to people and animals. The most serious problems include:
- spreading diseases – including leptospirosis, salmonellosis, rabies, as well as parasites such as fleas and mites.
- contaminating food and water – rat droppings can contaminate food products and water-supply systems.
- damage to infrastructure – gnawing through cables, insulation, and structural elements.
- a threat to public safety – rat bites can lead to serious infections and allergic reactions.
The presence of these rodents in public places, especially during events, requires a swift response from public-order services and consistent maintenance of cleanliness in urban spaces.
