The final stage of construction is underway on modern apartment blocks at 25–31 Staroszkolna Street in Bolesławiec. These four multi-family buildings are significantly changing the character of this part of the city.

Although the development looks impressive and certainly addresses the housing needs of many families, questions are arising about the new estate’s transport accessibility. Currently, none of the MZK Bolesławiec routes runs directly near the blocks on Staroszkolna Street. There is not only a lack of stops, but also of a place for buses to turn around – no bus bay or terminus has been built here.

Residents of nearby streets and future tenants are asking whether the city authorities plan to extend the public transport network in this direction. This is particularly important in the context of the intensive densification of development and the growing number of residents in this part of the city. Do the City Hall, councillors and Mayor Piotr Roman recognize the need to adapt the road system and public infrastructure to the new spatial development?

Changes in Bolesławiec are not limited solely to large housing estates. The city is also developing in individual locations – old buildings are disappearing and modern residential and commercial blocks are being built in their place.

An example? The corner of Garncarska and Kubika streets. A multi-storey building with residential and commercial functions is now rising on the site of a former car workshop. The development fits harmoniously into the surrounding buildings and may enliven this part of the city.

A similar situation can be found on Piaskowa Street, where a small building containing a grocery store stood until recently. A modern block with commercial space on the ground floor now stands there. This is another example of the changing cityscape – Bolesławiec is growing not only outward, but upward as well.
