The Jelenia Góra District Prosecutor’s Office has filed an indictment with the court against a 77-year-old Russian citizen accused of growing—jointly and in agreement with other people—cannabis plants other than fibrous hemp and producing narcotic substances in the form of marijuana from them.
– On January 23, 2025, officers from the Lubań County Police Headquarters, together with officers from the Customs and Tax Office in Zgorzelec, searched the residential and farm premises occupied by the accused – reports Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska of the Jelenia Góra District Prosecutor’s Office. – During the search, they discovered and secured 197 cannabis plants other than fibrous hemp in the attic, as well as 19,525 grams of an already manufactured narcotic substance in the form of marijuana. From this amount of dried cannabis, the accused could have obtained no fewer than 33,189 smallest retail doses.
The foreign national could face up to 20 years in prison.
The woman confessed to committing the crime with which she was charged. She provided explanations. She stated that she had purchased the seeds, lighting equipment and other items necessary for growing the plants from people unknown to her. She had no previous criminal record.
Actions are under way to detain the remaining people connected with the crime.
