Polish Waters in Wrocław will carry out a project to restore and revitalize the Bóbr River in Marciszów, with an estimated cost of PLN 45 million. The office: “The aim of the project is to ensure flood safety for the built-up areas of the Marciszów municipality, including the safety of residents and adjacent infrastructure. The work includes restoring and revitalizing the natural river channel of the Bóbr along the section from the road bridge in Ciechanowice to upstream of the mouth of the Lesk stream, covering approximately 6.5 km.
What will be done?
Scope of work:
- rebuilding existing reinforcements – reconstruction of masonry structures and paved slope surfaces;
- construction of new reinforcements – stabilization and protection of the bank, particularly along sections of concave bends;
- hydrotechnical reconstruction – modernization of existing structures in the river channel, construction of rapids using rock riprap, and drainage of riverside areas;
- construction of levees and valley walls – flood protection for urbanized areas, including levee access roads and crossings as well as pipe culverts.
Polish Waters:
The project aims to halt the progressing degradation of the river channel caused by erosion, which threatens bridge structures, residential and commercial buildings, national road No. 5, and the municipal infrastructure of Marciszów. Thanks to the project, residents and infrastructure will be better protected against flooding, while the Bóbr River will regain its natural ecological functions.
– The five new projects show that Polish Waters continuously respond to the needs of local communities and fill gaps in flood protection where it is most needed,” said Mateusz Balcerowicz, deputy president of Polish Waters for flood and drought protection.
Officials assure:
All work will be carried out in accordance with environmental analyses and while maintaining ecological standards. As a result, modernization of the levees will not only improve safety but also contribute to maintaining the river’s ecosystem functions. We cooperate with experts to ensure that our work complies with the best ecological practices, which will help protect local fauna and flora. We invite you to follow the progress of our work and support initiatives aimed at improving flood safety in Poland.
