The comparison with Poland’s western neighbors is linked to Poles’ generally accepted admiration for Germany’s technological development, the reliability and quality of its products.
– The strengths of Polish companies are the talent and the force with which they enter global markets, as well as the productivity, efficiency and uniqueness of their projects – said Andrzej Dycha during a Polish-Canadian panel in Vancouver in May 2025.
Lower Silesia, which actively supports the international development of its businesses, is already organizing the second edition of the “Going Global – Dolnośląska Dyplomacja Gospodarcza” programme. Many factors demonstrate the uniqueness of this local-government initiative nationwide.
Above all, the Going Global programme enables Lower Silesian companies to establish business contacts at prestigious global trade events such as Web Summit Vancouver, one of the key events in the technology industry, bringing together more than 40,000 participants from around the world, including representatives of giants such as Microsoft, Amazon and IBM.
The Lower Silesian Voivodeship’s local government was represented at the fair by Marshal Paweł Gancarz, Deputy Chair of the Regional Assembly Cezary Przybylski and regional councillors: Andrzej Kredkowski and Piotr Kraczkowski.
– Let us show that the voivodeship’s local government can cooperate effectively with the government administration. This is important because, on the one hand, we have fantastic entrepreneurs, and on the other, we are combining our potential. We can create better conditions for business development – says Paweł Gancarz, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
This year, 20 Polish companies took part in Web Summit Vancouver, including as many as 15 businesses from Lower Silesia, among them: IDENTT, Synergia Pro, AgileQueue, SMART-DE, Awakast, Ferber State Aid Consulting, 4soft, Greenfields, Cooltech, AI Cluster, Hinty, Giant Lazer and CRP EDU.
What did the entrepreneurs attending the event emphasize?
The entrepreneurs said that participation in international events was an invaluable source of information and development opportunities for their companies. It allows them to realistically assess their position in the context of global competition, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and adapt their operating strategies to a dynamically changing environment.
Moreover, initiatives of this kind foster business contacts and the building of relationships with potential partners and customers, ultimately leading to expansion into new markets.
Why is this so important? Lower Silesian businesses, particularly those operating in artificial intelligence, stand out for their innovation and competitiveness, holding a leading position in Poland and gaining recognition internationally. Their presence and active participation in international events are key to further development and strengthening their position as a leader in this promising field.
– We came here with a project that has global potential. It is based on artificial intelligence algorithms and makes it possible to optimize energy consumption in existing networks of devices, such as compressors operating in factories. We implemented such a solution in one of Poland’s glassworks, where we achieved real savings of 5–8 percent. We see truly significant value in this – says Katarzyna Furmaniak of SMART-DE.
The Going Global 4.0 programme envisages organizing 28 business missions for approximately 300 entrepreneurs, enabling them to present their businesses and establish contacts at events in various locations, from Toronto to Tokyo. This demonstrates the region’s commitment to supporting the expansion and competitiveness of local companies on international markets.
