Changes to cross-border transport were discussed during an international conference in Zgorzelec. As part of the smartENT project, a range of measures was presented that will soon make travelling even more convenient.
– From Bolesławiec, through Germany, to Liberec – one ticket is all you need. This is an example of how well international cooperation can work – says Paweł Gancarz, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
What will change?
A new quality of information: The project involves simplifying access to information about routes, timetables and ticket availability. No more searching – everything is to be clearer and easier to access.
More sales points and online sales: Currently, more than 60% of tickets at Koleje Dolnośląskie are already purchased online – on tourist routes, the figure is as high as 90%. The EURO-NYSA-TICKET is to become even more easily available online.
Integration of fares and timetables: Thanks to cooperation between the three regions, costing almost one million euros, timetables and ticket prices will be better matched and integrated.
Direct trains to Görlitz: The planned electrification of the Zgorzelec–Görlitz section will allow Koleje Dolnośląskie trains to enter the German station directly – without the need to change trains or rolling stock.
Where can you travel with the EURO-NYSA-TICKET?
With the ENT ticket, you can travel, among other routes, on:
- Bolesławiec – Görlitz
- Jelenia Góra – Harrachov
- Lubań – Węgliniec
- Gryfów Śląski – Świeradów-Zdrój
- Jelenia Góra – Görlitz
The ticket covers Koleje Dolnośląskie trains, as well as services offered by Polregio, Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn, Die Länderbahn and České Dráhy. It includes rail, bus and urban transport throughout the entire border region.
A new stage of international cooperation
On the German side, the organisation is handled by ZVON – the Upper Lusatia and Lower Silesia transport association. On the Polish side, alongside Koleje Dolnośląskie, the Institute for Territorial Development is also active.
The future of regional public transport was also discussed in Zgorzelec. A proposal was put forward to create a Voivodeship Public Transport Authority that could coordinate rail and bus services in the region.
– It is time to ask whether Lower Silesia is ready for a joint public transport organiser. This is an issue that requires consideration – Łukasz SękŁukasz Sęk from the Marshal’s Office noted.
Summary for passengers
You can still buy one ticket for journeys in three countries. Soon it will be easier to find it, buy it and plan your journey. Thanks to the investment, the problem of changing trains in Görlitz will come to an end. All this – with no change to the ticket price. It is a good time to plan a trip abroad… without stress and without borders.
