A supercell storm appeared over Bolesławiec, typical of dangerous storm phenomena such as tornadoes, large hail and strong winds.
A reader, Allan, noticed the phenomenon and sent in a photograph. Although relatively rare, this phenomenon was responsible for today’s sudden hail and gusty, strong wind.
The rotating updraft characteristic of supercell storms enables them to develop more intensely and rapidly compared with conventional storms. This phenomenon, known as a mesocyclone, was clearly visible in the structure of the supercell storm observed in Bolesławiec.
