At the request of the District Prosecutor in Bolesławiec, the court ordered the three-month pre-trial detention of a 52-year-old resident of Bolesławiec, Rafał J. suspected of illegally disposing of waste by transporting it and abandoning it in Różyniec. – The investigation has established that on 19 May 2025, acting jointly and in agreement with another identified person, the perpetrator transported hazardous waste from his property in Bolesławiec, namely: 14 barrels weighing 30 kg, containing dried, unidentified chemical substance, 2 metal barrels weighing 250 kg, filled with rubbish, as well as 7 mauzer-type containers, one of which contained two barrels filled with car parts mixed with grease and an unidentified substance – reports Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, spokesperson for the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra.

She adds: – He abandoned this waste in Różyniec, near the rubbish containers located by the access road to the car parks, opposite one of the petrol stations.

According to the investigators’ findings, Rafał J. left the waste under such conditions and in such a manner that it could have posed a threat to the natural environment, as well as to human life or health.

After police officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters brought him to the local District Prosecutor’s Office, the perpetrator was charged. He faces up to 10 years in prison.

The suspect did not admit to committing the alleged offence. He gave explanations.

Prosecutor’s Office:

Rafał J. had previously been convicted, for an offence under Article 183 § 1 of the Criminal Code. In addition, another criminal proceeding under Article 183 § 1 of the Criminal Code is currently pending against him before the District Court in Bolesławiec, concerning offences identical to the present one.

As part of this investigation, his accomplice, Mariusz G., was also charged with an offence under the same article. He admitted to committing the alleged offence. The spokesperson said: – The prosecutor applied a non-custodial preventive measure against him in the form of police supervision.
