The incident took place last week in Lwówek County. – A man claiming to be an investment adviser called a 74-year-old resident of Lwówek Śląski. He spoke Polish, but with a distinct Eastern accent – reports junior aspirant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the Lwówek KPP. – He convinced the woman that she could invest in shares of the well-known fuel company Orlen and achieve substantial profits.
During the conversation, the man instructed the victim to install AnyDesk on her computer, a popular remote-access tool. Spokeswoman: – Unaware of the danger, the woman followed the instructions, giving the fraudster full control of her device.
Unfortunately, shortly after gaining access to the computer, the criminals accessed the victim’s bank account and carried out a series of unauthorized transactions. Policewoman:
The woman realized that she had fallen victim to fraud only when more than PLN 36,000 disappeared from her account.
The case was reported to the police, who are carrying out activities to identify the perpetrators.

Let us remember that no legitimate financial institution asks people to install remote-access software. Do not share your login details with anyone and do not be deceived by promises of quick profits.
