The incident occurred on Friday, May 16, after 11:00 p.m. According to the Lwówek police, a 25-year-old woman driving a BMW lost control of the car while trying to avoid a wild animal that had suddenly entered the road. The vehicle hit part of a bridge and then fell into the Bóbr River.

Fortunately, the water level in the river is currently low, which most likely prevented a tragedy. Both the driver and the passenger got out of the vehicle unaided. No one was injured. A breathalyzer test showed that the driver was sober.

Firefighters from the Bolesławiec KP PSP took part in retrieving the vehicle from the river, using a special SGRT vehicle (Bolesławiec Specialist Technical Rescue Group).

Police are appealing to drivers to exercise particular caution, especially on roads running near wooded areas. Wild animals can enter the road at any time.
