These exceptional events, combining patriotism, culture and community celebration, have become a permanent fixture in the city’s calendar of festivities and attract crowds of Bolesławiec residents every year.
Thursday, 1 May 2025 – Poland in Europe
This year’s celebrations will begin at 12:00 in the auditorium of Kino FORUM, where a concert entitled “Music of Europe” will take place. It will be a unique performance devoted to the most famous vocal and piano works by European composers. Italy will be represented by opera (the duet Libiamo by Giuseppe Verdi) and the Neapolitan song (Funiculi Funicula! by Luigi Denza), Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany by piano music (Scherzo in B-flat minor by Fryderyk Chopin and Moonlight Sonata by Ludwig van Beethoven) and vocal lyricism (the songs Prząśniczka by Stanisław Moniuszko and Struna naladěna by Antonín Dvořák). A Hungarian czardas, Spanish habanera and Viennese waltz will also be performed. Free tickets for the event can be collected at the Kino FORUM box office from 22 April, starting at 16:00.
Friday, 2 May 2025 – Flag Day of the Republic of Poland
At 12:00, we invite all residents to the Market Square to jointly celebrate Flag Day of the Republic of Poland – a holiday that reminds us of our national colours and of how important symbols of unity and identity are. The ceremony will be particularly solemn. It will be attended by the Honour Guard Company of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, the “Bolesławiec” Municipal Brass Band and flag-bearing delegations. Children from Bolesławiec schools and preschools will also take part in the ceremony. Everyone gathered will sing the four verses of the national anthem together.
Saturday, 3 May 2025 – National Constitution Day of 3 May
On National Constitution Day of 3 May, which marks the 234th anniversary of the adoption of this landmark act in the history of our country, residents are invited at 10:00 to the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help at Plac Zamkowy, where a solemn Holy Mass for the Homeland will be celebrated with the participation of the Honour Guard Company of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, flag-bearing delegations and the “Bolesławiec” Municipal Brass Band. Afterwards, at 11:30 we invite you to the continuation of the ceremony at the Monument to the Centenary of Regaining Independence on ul. Bankowa.
After the official ceremonies, at 12:30 we invite you to a patriotic gala, which will begin with the announcement of the results and a performance by the winners of the 11th Review of Patriotic Songs and Songs by Bards of Solidarity.
In the second part of the gala, we will hear the concert “Music and the Polish Cause”. The concert presents a chronological history from the Kościuszko Uprising and the Third Partition (the polonaise Farewell to the Homeland by Michał Kleofas Ogiński), through the November Uprising (Scherzo in B minor by Fryderyk Chopin) and the times when Poland did not exist on the maps of Europe (Polonaise in A major by Henryk Wieniawski, songs and arias by Stanisław Moniuszko, including The Fir Trees Murmur on the Mountain Top) to the regaining of independence (the finale Violin Sonata in A minor by Ignacy Jan Paderewski). Free tickets for this event can be collected at the Kino FORUM box office from 22 April, starting at 16:00.
In the afternoon, at Plac Piłsudskiego, the atmosphere will become more entertaining while retaining the festive spirit. At 18:00 the band Pop&The will perform, followed immediately at 19:30 by the well-known and acclaimed LUXTORPEDA taking over the stage.
On 3 and 4 May, food trucks offering a variety of cuisines will be located at Plac Piłsudskiego.
You are warmly invited to celebrate together! May these three days be a time of joy, national pride and community for us all.
