Last Saturday, April 12 this year, at around 9:00 a.m., the duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Jawor received information that a neglected husky was on one of the private properties in the Bolków municipality. “Officers from the local police station immediately went to the scene,” reports junior inspector Ewa Kluczyńska, press officer of the Jawor District Police Headquarters.
The police found the dog chained to its kennel. The animal was extremely emaciated, with visible injuries and difficulty moving. It was established that the dog belonged to a resident of the Bolków municipality, who is currently away from home. His son was supposed to care for the animal.Spokeswoman: “Representatives of the Jawor Society for the Care of Animals were called to the scene. They took custody of the dog and transported it to a veterinary clinic because the animal clearly required immediate assistance and treatment. Due to the animal’s serious condition and the suffering associated with it, a decision was made to euthanize it.
Investigators from the Bolków Police Station are now conducting proceedings into the abuse of an animal. The act bears the characteristics of an offense specified in the provisions of the Animal Protection Act. The police investigation will establish the exact circumstances of the case and, above all, the extent of responsibility of the people who were supposed to care for the animal.
This type of crime is punishable by up to two years in prison.
