Officers from the Economic Crime Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra arrested a 25-year-old resident of the Silesian Voivodeship suspected of fraud and attempted fraud using the “policeman” method.
The incident occurred on March 13, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m. – A woman called the victim, claiming to be a police officer. The call was then taken over by an alleged sister, who said that she had caused a traffic accident – she had hit a pregnant woman at a pedestrian crossing. To avoid arrest, she urgently needed money for a lawyer’s services – reports Sub-Inspector Edyta Bagrowska, press officer of the Jelenia Góra Municipal Police Headquarters.
A 25-year-old man came to collect the cash, and the victim handed him 10,000 euros and 20,000 zlotys. When she realized that she had fallen victim to fraud, she immediately notified the Police.
