Thanks to the intensive work of Legnica police officers, the perpetrator of yesterday’s tragic incident, in which a Legnica resident was fatally wounded, has been arrested.

Earlier, with the prosecutor’s consent, the Legnica police published the suspect’s image.

On 12 March 2025, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica opened an investigation into the murder that occurred the previous evening, on 11 March 2025, on al. Rzeczypospolitej in Legnica, after 8:30 p.m.

The WCPR dispatcher notified KMP Legnica that a man stabbed with a knife was in the area of al. Rzeczypospolitej. – The police patrol that arrived at the scene found two men lying on the pavement: a 41-year-old man in cardiac arrest caused by incised wounds to the neck, back and shoulder, and a 49-year-old man with incised wounds to his upper and lower limbs – reports prosecutor Liliana Łukasiewicz, press spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica. Both victims were residents of Legnica.

The spokesperson adds:

Both victims were given immediate medical assistance at a hospital in Legnica. One of the men suffered such serious injuries to the neck that, despite the assistance provided, he died. After his wounds were treated, the other victim was discharged home.

Immediately after the act, the deputy district prosecutor in Legnica, together with the police, inspected the scene. The course of the tragedy was established, among other things, on the basis of city surveillance recordings.

Investigators:

There is no doubt that the attacker was a 41-year-old Legnica resident, Krzysztof P., who had previously been convicted many times of various offences. After an earlier quarrel with the victims, Krzysztof P. attacked them with a knife in retaliation, inflicting numerous stab wounds on both men around the neck, chest, back and torso, and then fled the scene.

Activities aimed at arresting the suspect are under way.

Today, the prosecutor charged P. with murdering one of the victims and causing bodily injuries to the other. If the suspect cannot be arrested, the prosecutor will soon submit a request to the court for the suspect to be remanded in custody for 14 days and will then issue a wanted notice for him.

Krzysztof P. faces up to life imprisonment.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening in Legnica. The attacker stabbed two men; both were taken to hospital. One of them did not survive.

The other injured man has already been discharged from the hospital. The police and prosecution service are establishing the causes and circumstances of the incident. A manhunt for the suspect is under way. As reported by Radio Wrocław:
