According to the family’s account, three people were inside: a 64-year-old man, his 63-year-old wife and their 16-year-old grandson. The household members claim that the police forcibly broke down the door and restrained everyone present in the apartment—even the teenager, who was still asleep. Although the family says they had no connection with the alleged criminal, the officers searched the entire apartment for evidence.
After the operation ended, it turned out that the person whose detention was the objective of the intervention was not in the apartment. The family stresses that the police action caused them severe stress. The 64-year-old man, who suffers from diabetes and other illnesses, has been unable to recover from the shock. However, the incident affected the 16-year-old most severely. According to his mother, he is experiencing severe trauma, is afraid to return home and avoids school. He reportedly received psychological support only after the intervention.
Police representatives explain that the action was justified by the ongoing investigation and by the fact that people suspected of crimes were related to the apartment’s residents and visited the property. The prosecutor’s office confirms that it issued the order and approved the search, but notes that details of how the operation was carried out—such as the method of entering the apartment—were left to the police.
“An investigation is being conducted in this case by the Bolesławiec District Prosecutor’s Office. The prosecutor approved the search of the specified premises, which confirms that entering the apartment was justified. The people residing at this address are related to two suspects who were detained in connection with possessing and supplying other people with significant quantities of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. In addition, one of the suspects stayed at this location during various periods,” reports junior inspector Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, spokesperson for the Bolesławiec police.
Following the intervention, which BolecInfo described today, the apartment’s door was repaired and the locks were replaced. The family still has not received a full explanation of the circumstances surrounding the operation. They announce that they will file a complaint, demanding information about how a situation arose in which—in the view of their relatives—innocent people were treated as though they were dangerous criminals.
