The city is holding far-reaching talks with Wrocław University of Science and Technology. Scientists from PWr have conducted very detailed studies. The city authorities intend to build a small hydroelectric power plant on the Bóbr River (in the vicinity of Gdańska Street). If everything goes according to plan, a bridge will also be built there.
The studies show that this structure will flatten the flood wave. On a daily basis, it will cause the water surface level to rise by approximately 3 metres.
According to scientists from Wrocław, the Bóbr is Poland’s best river in terms of energy potential. That is why the city authorities want to take advantage of it. The investment, initially estimated to cost PLN 50 million, should, according to estimates, pay for itself within a dozen or so years.
