In 2016, a burglary took place at an allotment garden in Bolesławiec. – An unknown person cut through the bars and broke a window to enter the building, from which they stole an electric lawn mower – reports junior inspector Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters worked at the crime scene. The spokesperson: – During the examination, a police forensic technician secured a metal-cutting saw and work gloves.

There was biological material on the gloves, and an expert from the laboratory of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław extracted the male DNA profile of an unknown person. The trace was entered into the database.

At the beginning of 2025, police officers received information that the trace secured 9 years earlier had been linked to comparison material collected from a man suspected of a crime.

The officer handling the burglary case and securing the swab for comparison was the same police officer. His thoroughness led him to the archives, because he remembered that more burglaries of allotment cottages had taken place during the same period. Reviewing old case files for the offender’s modus operandi, the officer linked 7 burglaries of allotment cottages.

The offender received 7 charges. Since he is a repeat offender, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
