On 22 February, the General Meeting convened at Tarczyński Arena in Wrocław. In the Lower Silesian Football Association, every club—regardless of whether it is Ekstraklasa clubs Zagłębie Lubin or Śląsk Wrocław, or A-Class club Burza Bystrzyca—has one vote. The delegates decided that Łukasz Czajkowski would become the new president of DZPN. He will replace Andrzej Padewski, who supported his successor’s candidacy.
“I sincerely thank all the delegates for their trust. We will continue the mission of popularizing football in Lower Silesia. We will launch a program of football demonstration lessons on an unprecedented scale, in every primary school in our province,” said Łukasz Czajkowski, the newly elected president of DZPN.
The outgoing president, Andrzej Padewski, was appointed Honorary President of DZPN by decision of the meeting’s members. Earlier, the departing president received, among other things, a commemorative platter from Renata Granowska, Deputy Mayor of Wrocław, and he himself honored both the representative of the City of Wrocław and Paweł Gancarz, Marshal of Lower Silesia, as well as Artur Jurkowski, Deputy Voivode of Lower Silesia, with DZPN friends’ jerseys.
“Several thousand women and men from Lower Silesia play football. Ninety-nine percent of them are amateurs, and I am pleased that representatives of football clubs from all across Lower Silesia have gathered here. I am also looking forward to a match in which Wojciech Bochnak and Michał Rado, deputy marshals of Lower Silesia who are also involved in the activities of their local football clubs, will have the opportunity to play against each other,” said Paweł Gancarz, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

Who Is the New President of DZPN?
The new DZPN board will operate under the leadership of President Łukasz Czajkowski. The president elected today is 37 years old. He graduated from Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and also studied in Spain, Switzerland and the United States. He speaks Spanish and English fluently. For years, he served as Vice President of the Lower Silesian Football Association.
In his address, he declared further assistance for clubs affected by the floods, using funds to be provided by UEFA; the implementation of a football promotion program in all schools in Lower Silesia; and continued efforts to deregulate football competitions, which is intended to make it easier for any group willing to do so to form an association and participate in league matches, regardless of the level of its skills.
“For years, the number of football clubs in Lower Silesia has been growing, despite representatives of other provincial football associations observing the opposite trend. We simplify procedures, talk to and listen to representatives of football teams in our province, and the result is the popularization of football,” says Łukasz Czajkowski.
The Lower Silesian Football Association is the largest sports organization in Lower Silesia. More than 600 teams participate in football competitions. Every weekend—apart from the summer and winter breaks—teams ranging from the PKO BP Ekstraklasa to B-Class competitions compete against one another on hundreds of pitches across Lower Silesia.
