Bolesławiec police officers are receiving disturbing reports that many seniors received calls from a withheld number yesterday evening.
The perpetrator allegedly pretended to be a police officer and said that someone from the family had caused an accident and that financial assistance was urgently needed.
Recently, scammers have most often claimed that a pregnant woman had been hit and, using time pressure, tried to trick victims into handing over cash for bail for a family member.
Bolesławiec police officers remind the public to exercise limited trust toward strangers who call and present themselves as employees of various services.
Reminder:
- The police never ask anyone to hand over money and do not call with such a demand!
- Do not withdraw any savings from your account or hand them over to strangers. Your money in the bank is safe.
- Do not give your personal details to the wrong people. Protect your privacy.
- Exercise limited trust toward strangers! Scammers exploit gullibility.
