– At the end of 2024, police officers from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec received a report concerning a burglary at three containers on the construction site of a railway bridge over the A18 motorway. The criminals stole various devices and tools worth a total of PLN 150,000 – reports asp. szt. Monika Kaleta from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – The perpetrators acted under cover of night. They arrived at the crime scene in a passenger car belonging to one of them.

She adds: – A series of investigative activities and cooperation between uniformed officers from the police station and detectives from the Bolesławiec police unit enabled them to obtain important information about the circumstances of the incident, which led to the suspects being identified. In addition, operating in three counties—Zgorzelec, Żagań and Lubań—in two provinces, the officers established where the equipment from the burglary was located and recovered a significant portion of the property worth more than PLN 90,000.

Analysis of the collected evidence showed that three men came to the crime scene three times during the same night, each time using a passenger car to remove more equipment. The spokesperson said:

The thieves stole, among other things, large welding machines weighing approximately 300 kg, grinders, hydraulic pumps and numerous smaller power tools. The stolen goods were transported to one location and then taken outside Bolesławiec County.

Three residents of Zgorzelec County, aged between 24 and 27, were arrested. All had previously been convicted of property crimes. The prosecutor placed the suspects under police supervision and imposed a ban on leaving the country. They now face up to 10 years in prison.

Activities aimed at locating the remaining power tools are ongoing.
