At the gala celebrating the anniversary of “Szkło kontaktowe”, one of the most controversial events in Bolesławiec politics was recalled. It concerned the conclusion of a session of the Bolesławiec City Council, which took place before Easter on 28 March 2018. The protagonist was the late councillor Dariusz Mucha.
In 2018, we wrote about the councillor’s behaviour in an article titled: “F*** you in the a**” – Mucha replied to Easter wishes. The councillor addressed these words to the council chairman, who at the time was Jarosław Kowalski. The incident attracted enormous interest from the media and internet users.
This was not the only time our material appeared on Szkło kontaktowe. Fifteen years ago, we wrote about a meeting of Platforma Obywatelska. The future health minister Bartosz Arłukowicz said in Bolesławiec: The difference between Palikot and me is that I use vibrators in bed, while Palikot uses them on TVN. This kind of politics must come to an end.
Our journalist recorded the entire meeting. The famous quote came after about half an hour of speaking. We published the story on our website. Journalists from tvn24 used it and asked the MP about that particular quote. Arłukowicz said that the sentence had been distorted. The tvn24 journalists then asked whether we had a recording of the meeting. We sent them the recording, and MP Arłukowicz had to explain himself once again. This time, he could not blame local journalists for his showy speech. His only remaining defence was based on refusing to disclose his private life.
Arłukowicz underestimated both the reach and the reliability of the local portal and its journalists. Our material was quoted by, among others, tvn24.pl, Onet.pl, wp.pl, dziennik.pl and se.pl, while the TVN24 programme “Szkło kontaktowe” presented and commented on MP Arłukowicz’s statement.
