A family friend, fundraiser organizer:

Dear all!

Today (January 15 – ed. istotne.pl) a decision was made regarding Antoś’s further treatment. Unfortunately, the cancer is very aggressive and there is no cure for it. It was decided that Antoś would receive treatment at home, surrounded by love and support.

This decision was made with Antoś’s comfort and peace of mind in mind. Hospice doctors will visit Antoś regularly to monitor his health. Additionally, every three weeks, Antoś will receive an injection intended to slow the progression of the disease.

Antoś’s family is praying for as much time together as possible. Every day, every moment spent together with Antoś is a priceless gift to them.

“From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for the support you have shown Antoś and our family during this difficult time.”

Thank you for every donation, share and prayer. Thanks to you, we can provide Antoś with the conditions he needs”

About the fundraiser:

As the family friend and fundraiser organizer reports:

Antoś is a wonderful one-year-old boy. He was born with Down syndrome. At the age of eight months, he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor (choroid plexus carcinoma). He underwent surgery. Unfortunately, despite this, the disease is progressing and the tumor has grown back.

Antoś is the twin brother of Marysia and the brother of 8-year-old Madzi, 13-year-old Mai and 16-year-old Natalki. His sisters are deeply affected by their brother’s illness. Every day, they fear that they will lose him.

The pregnancy of Ania, the twins’ mother, had to be ended early because Antoś’s heartbeat was weakening. The children were born by Caesarean section, a month before the scheduled due date. Antoś was born with Down syndrome. He left the hospital two weeks after birth. Ania and Mirek took the best possible care of him. Specialists, examinations and appointments at various clinics followed. During one visit to an endocrinology clinic, the doctor noticed something worrying and referred Antoś for further tests.

Unfortunately, the tests revealed a brain tumor. Doctors in Katowice quickly decided on surgery. His hospital stay lasted a month and a half. When the results came back and it turned out that the tumor was malignant, the doctors offered little hope. Antoś underwent a course of chemotherapy. This involved further hospital stays lasting several days each. In September, it turned out that metastases had appeared in his spine. Then, following another MRI in December, it became clear that the tumor in Antoś’s beautiful little head had grown back. The doctors convened another consultation. Ania and Mirek are waiting for their decisions. They face another visit to the clinic in Katowice.

And she adds:

Ania and Mirek fight every day to ensure that their children lack nothing. Unfortunately, Antoś’s illness and the young children at home prevent them from taking up permanent work. They take turns staying with Antoś in the hospital or caring for the children at home.

The parents are doing everything they can to save little Antoś. Unfortunately, the costs are enormous. Travel, hospital stays and everyday needs are beyond the family’s budget. Together with the parents, I ask for your help. Every złoty, as well as every share, is very important to us so that we can continue fighting for a better tomorrow.

Thank you for all your support.
