The spring local elections changed everything and nothing. The mayor of Bolesławiec has not changed, but as if by the touch of a magic wand, he turned his pre-election opposition into a broad coalition. It includes Dawid Sarbak from Law and Justice, who was supposed to abolish paid parking and place hedge animals along the Bóbr River. And Maciej Małkowski from Impuls, who wanted to be mayor but became head of the county council under the starost who supports the mayor. Even Grzegorz Przybylski from the Coalition has softened, although he was supposed to lead Bolesławiec into the future, so different from the vision of Piotr Roman. We wrote about how Piotr Roman treats opposition councillors in the article Roman to Coalition Councillors: Take Off Your Partisan Membership Cards.
Joanna Świder can only dream of such a magical transformation of the opposition. During the December session of the Nowogrodziec council, the mayor once again listed the allegations that opposition councillors had made against her on social media.
– You can see that the magic of the holidays does not work everywhere – Joanna Świder said during the December session. – On December 4, you wrote (on social media – ed.): What information is Joanna Świder hiding from parents and teachers? How can you? What information am I hiding? So you assume that I am hiding something? I do not understand this. How can you behave like this? I will say that I am not hiding any information. And if you come, ask me and I will tell you everything I know. And if I do not know, I will ask an official to join us with the documents – the mayor addressed the opposition.
During her speech at the session, Joanna Świder rebutted further allegations from opposition councillors. This time, they concerned the distribution of food from the European Funds for Food Aid programme.
– Joanna Świder’s propaganda and pressure on MOPS cause the current of the official message to flow as a sweet liquid that produces a feeling of disgust – the mayor quoted the opposition’s post on social media. – I will tell you that it was this post that caused a feeling of disgust. The fact that someone selflessly helps another person causes disgust? I really think you should consider how this is possible – Świder argued with the councillors.
Finally, discouraged by the opposition’s actions, Joanna Świder concluded that the only thing she could do was forgive the councillors, on the occasion of the approaching holidays, for writing various unfavourable things about her online. The entire speech by Joanna Świder can be viewed below.
We would add that for advice on dealing with the opposition, it is best to turn to an expert, a practitioner with experience and a magician all in one: Piotr Roman. The mayor of Bolesławiec since 2002.
