The incident occurred on Monday, December 2. At 4:05 p.m., firefighters from OSP Nowogrodziec received a report that a two-year-old child was unconscious and that the child’s life was in danger.
Here is the account from OSP Nowogrodziec:
We set out immediately. Because of maintenance work being carried out at the station, we collected the medical equipment and, to shorten our travel time, used a private car. Two minutes after receiving the call, four firefighters arrived at the scene, while the rest of the team staffed the fire engine.
We began providing qualified first aid, including five blows between the shoulder blades, after which the child began breathing again. Oxygen therapy was then administered, and after a moment we heard the most beautiful sound—the child crying—which also meant a return of consciousness.
When the emergency medical team arrived, we handed over the child, who was transported to hospital with vital functions preserved.
This was what is known as an Isolated Medical Incident, meaning that firefighters were dispatched to provide medical rescue assistance because the station was located close to the scene.
