There is already an XC trail here that requires modifications, which will be carried out as part of this project. The project will supplement the existing trail with new technical obstacles and create a new recreational and off-road cycling track in the picturesque woodland near Piastów Street, with a total length of approximately 4 km. Ultimately, the project provides for three difficulty levels for the cycling trails: easy, intermediate and advanced, allowing both beginners and more experienced cyclists to use them. Importantly, the easiest trail will also be accessible to wheelchair users.

City Councillor from the Civic Coalition Sylwester Łasocha on the project:

The “Construction of the Bolesławiec Bike Skills Park” project will have several objectives:

  • Promoting physical activity and a healthy lifestyle,
  • Providing residents with a space for active outdoor leisure,
  • Encouraging regular cycling, which contributes to improved physical fitness and general well-being,
  • Enabling people to learn how to ride a bicycle, particularly children and beginners,
  • Creating a space for more advanced users to improve their riding technique, for example in difficult terrain, performing tricks or riding over movable ramps, logs, as well as various climbs and bridges.

The park will feature a variety of technical obstacles. Planned elements include movable ramps, logs, pump&jump, as well as various climbs and bridges. The set of obstacles for the cycling track will include elements designed to create an interesting and challenging route:

  • Movable ramp – a movable element resembling a seesaw that changes its angle, requiring good technique and a sense of balance from the cyclist,
  • Bunny hop pro – a zone for performing front-wheel lifts, ideal for improving jumping techniques and overcoming unexpected obstacles on the trail,
  • Logs+stones – a line with natural obstacles requiring precise bike handling,
  • Pump&jump – also known as rollers or whoops, these elements are used for pumping and jumping, allowing riders to gain speed without pedaling over a short section of the trail,
  • Small drop – a low drop, ideal for beginners, teaching safe landing,
  • Double drop – a more advanced version with two drops, requiring greater confidence,
  • Wooden and stone mini drops – a variety of small jumps made of wood and stone,
  • Berm – a high banked turn that allows riders to travel at high speed,
  • North shore – wooden elements forming raised boardwalks and platforms that challenge technical skills, including motor coordination,
  • Log climb – a climb made of logs requiring precise maneuvering, as well as technical and strength skills,
  • Climb+stones – a combination of a climb and stone obstacles, increasing the difficulty level,
  • Rock garden – a section with large stones requiring balance and precise bike handling during the descent,
  • Tabletop – an obstacle consisting of a takeoff, a flat platform and a landing section, which can be used for various tricks. Riding slowly, anyone can get over it, while faster riders can learn safe takeoffs and landings,
  • Bridge – a crossing over the trail in the form of a bridge, requiring intense concentration and balance, ideal for technical practice.

Thanks to these elements, the track will be varied and allow riders to develop their skills in different aspects of cycling.

The project also includes the construction of a shelter with a picnic table and bicycle racks, ensuring convenience for users. The project is being carried out by PUMPIT of Wrocław, and the total investment cost will be PLN 921,270. Construction work is scheduled to be completed by the end of May 2025.

Bolesławiec will gain a new standard of cycling recreation, which will certainly attract two-wheel enthusiasts and people who want to spend their time actively outdoors.
