Further actions carried out in this case by Lower Silesian police officers led to additional charges being brought against the arrested man in connection with his certifying false information in documents. The 49-year-old will now face trial for the acts of which he is suspected, and he could face up to 8 years in prison.
The Anti-Corruption Department is a special unit within the structure of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. Its officers specialize in detecting all forms of corrupt activity and arresting those responsible for it.
This time, the intensive work of police officers combating corruption led to the arrest, red-handed, of an unscrupulous owner of a driving school operating in Głogów County. Citing his influence and connections, the man undertook, in exchange for a bribe of several thousand złoty, to “arrange” a positive driving test result for one of his students. He was caught accepting the financial benefit and was completely surprised when officers put handcuffs on him.
It soon became clear that the arrested 49-year-old had much more on his conscience. A series of further actions carried out in this case by Lower Silesian police officers led to additional findings, which clearly showed that the man had repeatedly certified false information in documents issued by his driving school. During the investigation, officers proved that he had committed more than 70 such acts.
The extensive evidence collected by the officers made it possible to bring several dozen charges against the 49-year-old under Article 271 of the Criminal Code—certifying false information—and Article 230 of the Criminal Code—paid passive influence peddling. The court also applied the most severe preventive measure in the form of temporary detention. The man now faces up to 8 years in prison.
